Evaluation

During this unit I feel the time management has benefitted me greatly, when I originally started working on both branding and locating at the same time I found it difficult to keep them both moving equally each week between tutorials. I soon overcame this issue by planning my time well and prioritising both differently at different stages throughout the project.
I have really enjoyed both areas of this project in particular Branding, although I found it difficult, I loved researching a brand I knew not much about and overcoming challenges I faced such as working from a minimal knit wear range and connecting my style of work to my chosen brand Chloe. It has taught me how to see my work in industry and areas I need to consider more such as what season am I aiming my work at and who is it for in much more detail.

Throughout this unit I think I have improved well on analysing my work regularly through the blog and weekly tutorials, also working in different groups across specialisms in the studio has helped and receiving feedback on social media. I would now like to push this further by continuing using an Instagram page on my work and start communicating with industry I come across on there, perhaps through email and applying for work experience opportunities.

I struggled working from my own written brief but reflecting back on my work I think I have achieved what I wanted to, I have explored further into shape and structure of my sampling by using wire and manipulation. I have improved my knowledge on yarns by sourcing my own, correcting my colour pallet with yarns and testing what can be done with different yarns and materials.

Through contextual research I Believe my ‘Linear Contouring’ project is best suited for high fashion womenswear, this is because of the unusual yarn choice including wire and my structural elements are more suited to higher end than commercial high street.

To further my practice I would like to continuing working into womenswear but have a more considered approach to who my samples are for and what season and also consider a concept that really excites me. I would like to really extend on my context knowledge and will research further into collections throughout projects and personally and also to research further into trends. In comparison to my last project I enjoyed working for a sportswear look much more to regular women’s high end but really enjoyed working towards a specific brand in my live brief, I am going to improve on this by combining the 2 in future through detailed contextual research and focusing again on sportswear around this.
