Throughout sampling for my branding project I have been
trying to keep on top of my self-initiated project by continuing my research
and drawing, I have been looking into yarn choices and colour pallets lately. Part
of my brief I have written for myself is to experiment further with yarn
choices, I will do this through sampling with yarns of different qualities such
as a sturdy cotton alongside stretchy lycra’s also contrasting with silk for
movement that I will source myself. I would also like to try unusual yarns such
as plastics to see what I can create when combining them.
I am continuing my
colour pallet from my drawings to my knits which is a good range of greys, purple-blue
greys in different shades alongside different shades of purples and lilacs. I have
also been drawing inspired by Reika Iwami
and used a metallic ink when doing so to show his metallic areas. From this
I have tried melting sequins to add to my samples for this metallic look but don’t
feel like it’s the most aesthetically pleasing rout to go down for the overall
style of my collection so I will be using foils along with my colour pallet.
